About The Singapore Association for Continuing Education (SACE)

The Singapore Association for Continuing Education (SACE), founder and parent body of U3A Singapore (U3A SG), was established in Jun-1979 (UEN S79SS0040B) and registered as a charity under the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) from Mar-1987. In its early years, SACE membership comprised mostly of trainers, consultants and other professionals. Back in 1989 it had, jointly with UK University of Hull, launched a MA degree course in Tertiary, Adult and Continuing Education. SACE evolved a two-prong strategy to achieve rejuvenation and growth. SACE will continue to serve adults of all ages and provide structured courses ranging from 1-2 day duration to a few weeks or months. It is now part of the National Silver Academy (NSA) in Singapore and offers more than 70 short courses to Third Agers, ranging from Brain Gym for Mental Fitness, Mindfulness for Well-Being to Applied Psychology for Third Agers and Starting A Small Business. U3A SG, established in Aug-2012 (UEN 53221008E) will focus on proving learning activities for Third Agers (age 50 and above) that form into learning communities in specific areas meeting monthly for continuing learning and fellowship. All SACE members age 50 and above automatically become members of U3A SG. SACE and U3A SG have shown unprecedented growth in both membership and revenue from 2012 to 2018. Membership has grown from 150 members in 2012 to over 1200 in 2019.

Membership is opened to Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents.

Others may join as Associate Members.
