Eligibility Courses open to parents, caregivers, early childhood educators, allied health professionals, and special-education teachers who wish to better understand and respond to the non-verbal communication of autistic children.
Objective This course empowers participants to recognise, interpret, and respond meaningfully to the non-verbal cues of autistic children. By shifting from behaviour correction to connection, participants learn to:
• See movement and behaviour as communication, not defiance.
• Decode gaze, gesture, posture, facial expression, and vocalisation.
• Understand the sensory and emotional drivers behind these cues.
• Respond consistently across home, classroom, and care settings using compassionate, evidence-based strategies.
Ultimately, the course builds shared understanding and emotional safety — transforming frustration into connection for both adult and child.
Description “When we listen with our eyes and respond with our hearts, every movement becomes a conversation.”

This experiential 3-module programme helps adults understand what autistic children are really saying through their bodies. It blends psychology, sensory science, and practical classroom and home strategies in a safe, interactive learning environment.

Module 1 – Seeing Differently: The Foundations of Non-Verbal Communication

Participants discover that every gaze, movement, and sound carries meaning. Through video decoding and five interactive Body-Language Stations, they learn to observe without judgment and record patterns that reveal connection, curiosity, or distress.

Outcome: Adults replace frustration with curiosity and build a shared descriptive language for body cues.

Module 2 – Reading the Body: Sensory and Emotional Context

Participants uncover the “why” behind behaviours by understanding sensory sensitivities and emotional regulation. Using a 7-domain Sensory Profile Checklist and paired-video analysis, they identify triggers and soothing strategies.

Outcome: Participants learn to interpret what the body is communicating — adjusting environments to prevent overload and promote calm.

Module 3 – Responding with Connection: Turning Understanding into Action

Participants translate observation into consistent, compassionate action using the Notice–Pause–Respond framework. They practise co-regulation, model calm tone and posture, and co-create a personalised Cue Dictionary that unites parents, caregivers, and teachers.

Outcome: Adults across settings respond predictably and empathetically, enabling the child to feel understood and safe.
