About National Silver Academy (NSA)
The National Silver Academy (NSA) is a network of post-secondary education institutions (PSEIs) (i.e. ITE, polytechnics, universities and arts institutions) and community-based organisations that offer learning opportunities that are subsidised for seniors. Seniors and PRs aged 50 years and above can look forward to attending short courses and bite-sized courses that are exam free. For courses run by community-based organisations, the final fee payable – for both Singaporean and Permanent Resident seniors – takes into account the support given by the government to community-based organisations to develop and offer the short courses.

About The Singapore Association for Continuing Education (SACE)
The Singapore Association for Continuing Education (SACE) is a registered charity with MOE. It offers over 70 courses under the National Silver Academy, most of which are highly subsidised for Singaporeans & Permanent Residents aged 50 and above. SACE serves the continuing learning needs of adults of all ages.

Objective This course aims to equip participants with the core basic Gardening skills to plan and maintain their plants in different home garden formats, including apartment, balcony, container and ground gardens.
Description Core Gardening Principles and application This course covers all the basic Gardening principles, including sunlight requirements, watering techniques, different planting media, fertilization and pest management. Participants will learn cultivation requirements of focus plant type : Succulents. For this workshop, participants get to learn specific care requirements for succulents, prepare a specific succulent soil mix and get to bring back a self-created succulent bowl / pot, in addition to the other cuttings / plants which are part of the regular Gardening 101 workshop.
Trainer Darren Ng

Darren was a NParks ambassador for the ‘Community in Bloom’ programme where he conducted Orchid Gardening workshops for NParks and the National Library. He has also conducted the Asian Herbs and Cultivation workshop at Sunrise Global Chef Academy and Swarovski Singapore. He is leader of the Siglap South Community Centre garden interest group and organises many gardening workshops and community events. His qualifications include Bachelor of Science (Botany, Hon 2nd Upper) from NUS, 6 Sigma Black Belt and has certications for various courses on Situational Leadership, Lateral Leadership, NLP.

1) General plant materials for propagation: $5, pots and media : $5. Each pax gets 2-3 pots.

2) Succulent bowl : $5, 3-4 PCs of succulents : $10-12,
Succulent media : $5
