About National Silver Academy (NSA)
The National Silver Academy (NSA) is a network of post-secondary education institutions (PSEIs) (i.e. ITE, polytechnics, universities and arts institutions) and community-based organisations that offer learning opportunities that are subsidised for seniors. Seniors and PRs aged 50 years and above can look forward to attending short courses and bite-sized courses that are exam free. For courses run by community-based organisations, the final fee payable – for both Singaporean and Permanent Resident seniors – takes into account the support given by the government to community-based organisations to develop and offer the short courses.

About The Singapore Association for Continuing Education (SACE)
The Singapore Association for Continuing Education (SACE) is a registered charity with MOE. It offers over 70 courses under the National Silver Academy, most of which are highly subsidised for Singaporeans & Permanent Residents aged 50 and above. SACE serves the continuing learning needs of adults of all ages.

Objective Participants will gain  knowledge of key culinary herbs and their beneficial properties.  They will also learn and apply key techniques of concocting different types of herbs infusions and tincture.
Description This course covers an overview of key culinary herbs and their beneficial properties, different techniques of extracting plant-based  essential oils  and concoctions of a variety of herb infusions and tinctures. Participants will be guided through a hands-on experience of making selected Herbs Infusions and Tinctures (2-3 types). Through gaining knowledge of key culinary herbs and beneficial properties, participants are able to  prepare their own herb infusions and tinctures for personal usage and purpose them into delightful gifts.
Trainer Darren Ng

Darren was a NParks ambassador for the ‘Community in Bloom’ programme where he conducted Orchid Gardening workshops for NParks and the National Library. He has also conducted the Asian Herbs and Cultivation workshop at Sunrise Global Chef Academy and Swarovski Singapore. He is leader of the Siglap South Community Centre garden interest group and organises many gardening workshops and community events. His qualifications include Bachelor of Science (Botany, Hon 2nd Upper) from NUS, 6 Sigma Black Belt and has certications for various courses on Situational Leadership, Lateral Leadership, NLP.
