About National Silver Academy (NSA)
The National Silver Academy (NSA) is a network of post-secondary education institutions (PSEIs) (i.e. ITE, polytechnics, universities and arts institutions) and community-based organisations that offer learning opportunities that are subsidised for seniors. Seniors and PRs aged 50 years and above can look forward to attending short courses and bite-sized courses that are exam free. For courses run by community-based organisations, the final fee payable – for both Singaporean and Permanent Resident seniors – takes into account the support given by the government to community-based organisations to develop and offer the short courses.

The Singapore Association for Continuing Education (SACE) is a registered charity with MOE. It offers over 70 courses under the National Silver Academy, most of which are highly subsidised for Singaporeans & Permanent Residents aged 50 and above. SACE serves the continuing learning needs of adults of all ages.

Objective To be more mindful of our thinking and actions.
Description Participants will learn how mindfulness, stemming from traditional Eastern practices and more recent Western studies, could powerfully enhance personal self-awareness and performance.

Through this course you will:

  1. Gain knowledge and understanding of the age-old, neuroscience-validated, practice of mindfulness.
  2. Experience wellbeing through being mindful in everyday living and being response-able in stress situations.
  3. Practice the wisdom of active and energetic aging.
  4. Become more mindful of your thinking and actions.
  5. Curated with 4.5 hours of Brain Gym exercises.
Trainers

Adrian Teo

Adrian has a BA from the University of Malaya; and a MSc from Durham University, UK.  He spent a decade in the Civil Service, 5 years with an NGO in Coral Gables, Florida, 38 years in running his own training consultancy. He trained internationally in 57 countries. Adrian was an ACTA trainer and certifier, and  was master trainer in experiential learning. A spiritual elder, he did marital counseling for over two decades. Since 2012 he focused his attention on integrating mind-brain-body relationships in self and in connecting with others. As President of SACE, Adrian conducts “Mindfulness for Wellbeing” as well as some half-a-dozen other courses to coach seniors to maintain inner well-being through self-regulation and the practice of lifelong learning.

Maira Jamal

Maira is a licensed Brain Gym(R) Movement Facilitator and certified Art Educator, advocates purposeful movement for physical health, whole brain activation and emotional balance.  Emphasizing self-responsibility in  heath she seamlessly integrates her love for essential oils into personal holistic practices. Specializing in child-focused services.  Maira tailors programs for diverse age groups.  Her expertise extends to effective work with senior citizens  – blending movement, art, and honoring each unique individual in her holistic approach with a harmonious touch.
